‘Our aim is to develop archery in Powys for all clubs and members at all levels and promote the County within Wales and beyond.’ Welcome to our website, if you are new to archery or new to Powys, we hope that you will find it interesting and informative. We have several affiliated clubs who would love to hear from you and you can find the links on this site. Alternatively you can contact the PAA secretary who will point you in the right direction. Powys Archery Association has been around for many years, and has a distinguished history. Perhaps our most famous member has been Lynne Evans MBE, former Olympian and Chairman of the Grand National Archery Society (GNAS). We have also had several Powys archers on the Welsh Squad over the years. Formerly known as South and Mid Powys Archery Association (SAMPAA), we have recently dropped the SAM bit so that we can cover all of Powys and include the northern clubs. Powys is a big place with not many people so it is important that we reach out to all four corners and involve everyone that we can. We currently host two open tournaments, the indoor at Builth in March and the Clout in October and these are always well attended by archers from all over the Country. We also have a County Squad who compete each year in the Welsh Inter County Championships. Some of our members also attend a number of tournaments each year including the Welsh Championships and the British Target Championships. So, whether you are a competitive archer who wants to shoot for Wales or someone who likes to shoot and socialise at Club level, we welcome you all. Ashley Collins, Chairman, PAA |
